Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Clarify what matters, make room for difficult internal experiences, and take meaningful action without waiting for fear or uncertainty to disappear.
Psychotherapy with room for complexity
I help individuals and couples work through relationship distress, questions of faith and identity, sex and sexuality, gender, trauma, shame, and difficult life transitions—with honesty, respect, and room for complexity and nuance.

Ways we might work together
When more than one thing matters
Some problems are difficult precisely because more than one thing matters. You may love your spouse and feel deeply disconnected. You may value your faith and still have questions that cannot be ignored. You may understand your patterns intellectually but continue to feel trapped inside them.
Therapy can provide a place to slow the conflict down, understand what is happening beneath it, and begin making choices with greater clarity and integrity.
How I work
I do not believe therapy should impose an identity, a belief system, or a predetermined outcome. My role is to help you understand yourself more fully, recognize the patterns shaping your life and relationships, and make decisions you can genuinely own.
I will not tell you what you must believe, how you must identify, or what conclusion you must reach.
I will help you examine your experience honestly, congruent with your values.Clarify what matters, make room for difficult internal experiences, and take meaningful action without waiting for fear or uncertainty to disappear.
Notice what is happening emotionally and physically—not only what you can explain—and explore patterns through Ericksonian and Jungian perspectives.
Work carefully with painful and traumatic experiences and reactions that may not shift through insight and talk therapy alone.
Draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method to understand recurring cycles and create more honest connection, accountability, and repair.
The methods matter—but they are always in service of understanding the particular person or couple in front of me.
Individual therapy may help when different parts of you seem to pull in opposite directions, or when fear, shame, avoidance, or old patterns keep controlling what happens next.
Most couples become trapped in patterns where each person’s attempt to protect the relationship unintentionally makes the other feel less safe, less heard, or less loved.
These questions involve belonging, family, embodiment, conscience, community, hope, and often profound grief. I welcome clients whose convictions or desired outcomes do not fit neatly within religious or secular assumptions.

About Jeff
My style is warm but candid. I will take your values seriously, and I will also help you examine the patterns, fears, and contradictions that may be keeping you from living them fully.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. Much of my professional and personal work has taken place at the intersection of relationships, sexuality, identity, and traditional religious faith.
I co-founded North Star International and the Gender Harmony Institute and have participated in sustained dialogue with clinicians and scholars holding widely different views on sexuality, gender, and religion. That experience reinforced my belief that good therapy requires curiosity, courage, humility, and respect for the client’s right to direct their own life.
